Revisions for Claude, ChatGPT and other AI apps
Ask your AI app about a project's drawings and it answers from Revisions: the current set, what changed in the last bulletin, the open RFIs, who has the punch items - and, if you allow it, it creates and closes items for you.
Revisions has an MCP server (the open Model Context Protocol). Add it to your AI app once with this address:
https://revisions.build/mcpYou sign in to Revisions on our own page and choose what the app may do. It works with your account and sees exactly what you see in Revisions - your projects, with your role on each. A subcontractor's connection sees only what is shared with subs.
What you can ask
- "What changed in 140 West in the last two weeks? Which sheets were revised in Bulletin 3?"
- "Show me the revision history of A-201 and when each revision was issued."
- "Which RFIs are still open on 22 East 10th, and which are overdue?"
- "What is assigned to me across all my projects?"
- "Find every sheet that mentions the stair 2 pressurization fan."
- "Create an RFI on M-301 asking to confirm the duct size at grid C, assign it to the mechanical sub, due Friday."
- "Who is the architect's contact on this job, and what was in our last transmittal to them?"
Connect it
You need a Revisions account (any plan, including a guest invited to a project). The AI app needs to support remote MCP connectors.
Claude (web, desktop and mobile)
- Open Customize → Connectors (or claude.ai/customize/connectors) and choose to add a custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner may need to add it for the organization first.
- Name it Revisions and paste
https://revisions.build/mcpas the URL. Leave the OAuth client ID and secret empty. - Click Connect. The Revisions page opens: sign in, review what Claude asks for, and click Allow.
- In a chat, turn Revisions on under + → Connectors and ask away. By default Claude asks you before each action that changes something.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http revisions https://revisions.build/mcp
Then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose Revisions to sign in in your browser.
ChatGPT
Add a connector (an "app") with the URL https://revisions.build/mcp and OAuth sign-in, in Settings → Apps & Connectors. Depending on your plan you may first need to turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings, or ask your workspace admin to add it.
Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients
Add a remote (HTTP) server with the URL; the client opens the Revisions sign-in page itself. For example, in mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"revisions": { "url": "https://revisions.build/mcp" }
}
}
What it may do
On the Revisions page you allow one of two levels:
- Read - see your projects, sheets and revision history, items, comments, transmittals and project contacts.
- Read and create items (tick the box) - also create items, comment on them, and close or reopen them, as you. The app can only do what your own role allows: a viewer cannot create items, and only an item's author, its assignee or a project manager can close it.
It cannot delete anything, see passwords, invite people, change projects or billing, send e-mails on its own, or reach other companies' data. Items it creates are notified and logged under your name, exactly as if you had made them on the site.
Tools
| Tool | What it does |

Every answer includes a link that opens the sheet or item in Revisions.
Disconnect, and the company switch
See and disconnect the AI apps on your account in Revisions under Company → Integrations → AI apps; access stops at once. You can also remove the connector in the AI app. A company administrator can turn AI apps off for everyone in the company in the same place - connected apps stop working immediately - and the projects a company owns are not reachable through AI apps while it is off.
Privacy and security
- Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE on revisions.build; the AI app never sees your password. Access tokens last an hour, and refresh tokens are single-use.
- Revisions does not receive your conversations with the AI app - only the requests it makes, which are handled like your own use of the site.
- What a tool returns goes to the AI app and its provider under your agreement with them.
Details are in our privacy policy.
Trouble connecting?
- "AI apps are turned off for your company" - an administrator has to switch AI apps on (Company → Integrations → AI apps).
- The tools only read - you allowed reading only. Disconnect and connect again, and tick "Also let it create items".
- A project is missing - the app sees the projects you can see in Revisions; ask the project's manager to add you.
